Indulge in the seductive world of Chicago LIVE this Wednesday, May 15, at the Adler Theatre! Broadway’s longest-running American musical is reeling up for another sold-out year in its 25th Anniversary Tour, announcing much-awaited shows for 36 North American stages. Stand witness to the crimes and passions of Roxie Hart (Katie Frieden), a night club dancer turned murderer, as she navigates the seedy path to vaudevillian fame with rival cellmate Velma Kelly (Kailin Brown), co-conspiring criminal lawyer Billy Flynn (Connor Sullivan), and a cabaret of bewitchingly irresistible 1920s jazz. Chicago was adapted from the eponymous 1926 play by Maurine Dallas Watkins and first debuted in 1975, followed by a six-time Tony Award-winning Broadway revival in 1996. This year, the production’s nationwide run will bring back the legendary music by John Kander, lyrics by Fred Ebb, and book by Bob Fosse to deliver a decadently musical experience at Davenport’s classical Adler Theatre. "Welcome, ladies and gentlemen — you are about to witness a story of murder, greed, violence, exploitation, adultery, and treachery: all those things we hold near and dear to our hearts.”
Villainous vaudevillian vixens aren’t a dime a dozen, darling, so you can’t just let one go when she comes flirting by. Sneak past the curtains of a shadowy Chicago and behold the ploys of murderess Roxie Hart as she charms her way into becoming the hottest celebrity in town. With assistance from lawyer extraordinaire Billy Flynn and a rivalry against fellow inmate Velma Kelly, Roxie will beguile you in this seductive story of judicial corruption in the 1920s’ jazz age of decadence.

It spawned countless replicas both locally and abroad, with a notable Olivier Award-winning West End run and a six-time Academy Award-winning film adaptation.
