When it rains, expect a heavy downpour of Beatles music and sixties nostalgia. This year, Rain - A Tribute to The Beatles, highlights the Sgt Peppers and Magical Mystery Tour era -- a time when The Beatles were heavy on experimental and highly innovative sounds, hitting the peak of their music geniuses and spawning these album masterpieces. RAIN is a celebration of honoring and breathing new life into the timeless music of the Fab Four.
The band -- artists and musicians who portray The Beatles are not only great mimics. Aside from their note-perfect rendition of Beatles songs, they also exceptionally recaptured the hysteria and electrifying energy of Beatlemania. The show also travels through the different phases and faces of The Beatles. They fully immerse the audience in both sights and sounds. For starters, the adorable mop-top Beatles would rock out to rocking numbers like "Twist and Shout", "She Loves You, "I Wanna Hold Your Hand", and may candidly deliver their witty unforgettable spiels and punchlines. Costumes, equipment, and backdrops are meticulously tailored and set to be period-appropriate. And yes, even the artist who plays Paul plays left-handed bass!
The evening's setlist essentially covers The Beatles' golden classics that the crowd typically sings along to like "Hey Jude", "Come Together", or "Let It Be"; then also deep dive into more obscure yet epic tracks.
Rain started out as Reign, a band formed in 1975 in Laguna Beach, California, playing original songs and Beatles covers. The band soon developed a following that extended and grew as they performed all-Beatles songs in various key cities and states. In 1979, they were hired by producer Dick Clark to recover Beatle-covers for the film "Birth of the Beatles". In 2005, their act evolved into a Broadway-style production which they officially named Rain. Rain - A Tribute to The Beatles began its Broadway run, playing over 300 shows. In 2008, Pollstar listed Rain at number 17 in its yearly "Pollstar's Hot Top 20" for overall tickets sales of a touring show, band, or production.
